Round Table "Similar in Variety"

We invite you to the Round Table "Similar to Difference" where we talk about the development of solidarity among children in Croatia and Tanzania. The topic of the round table is learning about interculturalism and developing solidarity among children from alternative care in Croatia and Tanzania. For the first time in Croatia, the story of helping children with mental and physical disabilities who live in Centers has turned to the desire to help their peers in distant Tanzania. What triggered such an interesting action? LETTERS! NGO String of Love leads the orphanage of St. Anthony in Tanzania, where 40 orphans live. Living conditions in Africa are much harder, and education is a great luxury that most poor families can not afford. That is why children are forced to spend all-day working instead of learning in school. Seeing that, children from Tuškanac and Dubrava Centers decided to act. On the round table you will, besides this inspirational action, find out more about the alternative care systems from our speakers: Antonia Pejaković, president of the String of Love, will talk about life in St. Anthony's Orphanage, education system in Tanzania and the development of education for altruism through the project of Young Peacemakers. Jasenka Lovric, a pedagogue and head of Center for Education Tuškanac will discuss the importance of volunteering programs for the residents and the challenges they face in the Center's work. Željka Šemper, defectologist and head of Center for Education Dubrava will talk about intercultural learning and introducing children from the Center to a African culture. Join us 22nd of February at 19:00 in Frankopanska 1, Zagreb.
