The atmosphere was especially cheerful at the Dubrava Home for Older Persons on March 9, 2026. Together with the residents, we organized our music quiz Dance Away Your Aches, while the presence of television cameras added an extra spark to the event. This time, the Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) team joined us and filmed the quiz for the programme Third Age. In this way, the music, laughter and wonderful atmosphere had the chance to reach viewers beyond the homes for older persons.

Our entertaining quiz, created by Ivana Marasović, founder of Kolajna ljubavi, was about much more than testing musical knowledge. Ivana’s idea was to use music to bring together things that are good for all of us, regardless of age: a little movement, a little mental exercise, plenty of laughter and good company. Through the quiz, we encouraged the residents to participate actively, talk, reminisce and move, while creating an atmosphere in which everyone could relax, socialize and enjoy being together. Music from the participants’ younger years was the perfect choice. After all, music carries memories even when we sometimes forget them ourselves.

The residents were divided into two competing teams, and the atmosphere grew more cheerful with every question. Participants helped one another, recalled the names of singers and songs, and often just a few opening notes were enough to make someone smile and say: “I know this one!”

After the final question and the announcement of the results, the gathering continued with conversation and laughter as participants shared their favourite moments from the quiz. Dance Away Your Aches achieved exactly what it was created to do: it got people moving, awakened memories and, most importantly, brought plenty of smiles.

Because you are never too old for good music, good company and a little dancing.
